7 Weather and its effects in Harvest Moon: Light of Hope
The weather always had an important role in the Harvest Moon series, as well as in Light of Hope. Most of its effects are on crops and animals.
Crops could be missing or dead during extreme weather, while animals may get sick if you bring them outside the chicken coop or barn. For more details, I’ll explain each type of weather below.
7 Weather Types and Their Effects
In many Harvest Moon games, you can watch the television forecast to prepare for the next day. However, since there’s no TV in Light of Hope, you’ll need to ask Tabitha or Gareth about tomorrow’s weather.
Unfortunately, this method is not very effective, because you can’t possibly check the forecast every single day.
1. Sunny & Cloudy
This weather is great for taking your animals outside the barn. Crops will grow normally. It’s also required to trigger the Blue Bird event.
2. Rain
No need to water your crops on rainy days. Keep your animals inside the barn. Villagers still go about their daily routines, and events can still occur during the rain.
3. Heat Waves
Occurs only in Summer. This weather can dry out your crops. Animals may also get sick if left outside for too long.
4. Foggy
Happens in Spring and Fall. Visibility is reduced due to the fog, and some crops may unexpectedly disappear or die.
If your laptop or PC is below the minimum requirements, this weather may cause heavy lag when leaving your house. It’s an interesting concept, but it interrupts gameplay.
5. Storm
Although the in-game “Tips” menu says you can’t leave your house, you actually can. However, all stores will be closed, and villagers won’t appear on the map (except the gods).
Storms reduce crop HP, though not as severely as blizzards. Keep animals inside to prevent sickness.
6. Snowy
Occurs in Winter. You don’t need to water crops. Animals can be taken outside, and villagers still follow their daily routines. Events can also occur.
7. Blizzard
Occurs only in Winter. You cannot leave your house. All crops will disappear, stores will close, and villagers will vanish from the map (except the gods).
Those are the 7 types of weather in Harvest Moon: Light of Hope and their effects on your farm.
By understanding each one, you’ll be better prepared to protect your crops and animals.
Hopefully, the weather won’t interrupt your farming adventure too much!
