You may want a dog to raise directly in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, unfortunately, you will have to wait a while to do so.
You can actually get a dog by buying it at the Pet Shop. Looks really easy, huh? However, you need to do some important things first. This is all you need to know.
Unlock Van and Pet Shop in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town
Before you can buy a dog, you have to unlock the Pet Shop run by Van. Van is a traveling merchant from near the Forgotten Valley who visits Mineral Town for a period of time.
There are no special tricks to be able to unlock and meet Van. You just need hard work, consistency, and time. You see, he won't come until you give 30 gifts to the Harvest Goddess.
It doesn't mean you have to do that straight or continuously. But if you want to accomplish it fast, you have to give 1 gift to the Harvest Goddess every day for 1 season (30 days).
You do this by throwing offerings into the river near the hot springs. After you have given enough gifts, Van will come to visit your farm on Wednesdays on sunny days.
Buy a Dog from Van's Pet Shop
Once he started appearing in the game, he would open a regular shop on the 2nd floor of the Inn every Wednesday, and sell pets on the 15th day of each season.
You can find him in the Town Square (Rose Plaza) on the 15th of every season. He will be there between 12:00 and 18:00, and you can buy a variety of pets from his shop.
