Keep in mind that to get animals, particularly chickens, sheep, and cows, first you have to unlock the animal barn located in the Storage area on the second floor of Easter Ruins. To do this, you need 4 blue jewels and place them on altars to open the sealed blue doors.

Basically, you buy livestock through the Ranch World channel which can be accessed via the TV located in your room. But before you can buy them, you'll need certain automatic robots known as the Cluck-o-Matic (for chicken), Baabaa-o-Matic (sheep), and Moomoo-o-Matic (cow).
How to Get a Chicken
Let's say you're in the Summer 3. After you have successfully unsealed the blue doors, unlocked the animal barn, and got a Buggy car, then talk to Jonathan immediately.
He will give you a robot chicken (Cluck-o-Matic). After that, you can buy a chicken for 500 G via the World Ranch TV Channel.

How to Get a Sheep

How to Get a Dog
Come to Dr. Hope's house for weekly maintenance as usual on Summer 14th. After that, Dr. Hope will tell you that Chocola, Gayak's beloved dog, has given birth to some cute puppies. Not long after, Gayak comes and tells you that he wants to give a puppy to you.
How to Get a Cat
On Autumn 7, come to Dr. Hope's house for weekly maintenance as usual. After the maintenance is done, Dr. Hope he will give you a kitten that was just born.
You can choose one of the 2 types of cats offered by Dr. Hope. Sadly, the cat that gave birth to those 2 kittens died.
Can You Get a Horse?
In Harvest Moon: Innocent Life, you can't get a horse because you will be given a Buggy car instead. However, you can ride a wild horse in Heartflame Plains (where Fisherman fishes during the Summer).
Jonathan will tell you that if you want to ride a horse, go see Fisherman. He will teach you how to tame a wild horse in Heartflame Plains and you can ride it automatically.
How and Where to Find Jonathan
Jonathan Branch lives in Volcano Town. His house is located near the Shop-a-Million, across the street to be more precise.
You can meet him at his house early in the morning, but when it's afternoon he works at his animal barn which is located behind his house. At night, he usually stops by Masami's Restaurant/Bar when it's open.
