PCSX2 Best Settings No Lag Problem on Windows 10
There are several ways to play classic PlayStation 2 (PS2) games on modern devices. One of the most popular options is PCSX2, an emulator that allows you to run PS2 games on Windows PCs. It also supports other operating systems, including Linux and macOS.
People use PS2 emulators for various reasons. One main reason is that the original console is no longer in production, making it difficult to find a new unit. Additionally, buying a newer gaming console can be expensive, so emulation offers an alternative for players who want to revisit their favorite PS2 games without investing in new hardware.
However, people with lower PC specs may feel discouraged from playing PS2 games on PCSX2 because lag can interfere with gameplay.
In such cases, optimizing PCSX2 settings becomes crucial to solve this lag issue.
How to Set PCSX2 Settings without Lag on Windows 10
The PCSX2 version that I use for these settings is PCSX2 1.4.0. The display may be a bit different for PCSX2 1.6.0 and the latest version. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Open the PCSX2 software on your computer or laptop.
Step 2: Select Config, then Video (GS), and click Plugin Settings.
Set it like the image below:
For the adapter, choose the latest VGA you use on your computer. If there is no Direct3D11 and DirectX11 (Hardware), you can select Direct3D10 or Direct3D9 for the last renderer option.
Step 3: Select Config, and then Audio (SPU2). Set it like the picture below.
Important note! If you don't want to lose the sound, DO NOT change the Output settings, module: 1-XAudio 2.
Step 4: Go back to the configuration again, but this time select the Emulation settings.
Step 5: You can use the default options for EE/IOP and VUs because most game performances are fine.
Step 6: Select GS. Follow the settings as in the screenshot below.
Step 7: Select GS Windows; it's optional if you want to set it like the picture below.
You can change the aspect ratio to Widescreen (16:9) or Fit Window to make the emulator fullscreen. Choose the one that gives you the best experience.
Step 8: Select Speedh*cks, and set it like the screenshot below.
Most PS2 games I play on PC with these settings run smoothly. But keep in mind that not all of them will perform the same, so you may need to adjust the settings to suit your PC specs.
